Connect Windsurf to Relay

1. Get your connection link

1. Sign in to Relay with Google. It's free during the beta.
2. Open Integrations, click Set up on Windsurf, then Generate connection URL. Copy it straight away: it's shown only once.
3. Below, YOUR-KEY stands for your link. The dashboard shows the same steps with your link already filled in.

2. Add Relay to Windsurf

1. Open %USERPROFILE%\.codeium\windsurf\mcp_config.json (or Windsurf Settings → Cascade → MCP → View raw config) and add:

2. Click Refresh in Cascade's MCP panel; relay should list its tools.

3. Test it

Send this in Windsurf. It should answer from your Relay memory:

Make it save on its own

1. In a Windsurf session, send this once:

   In every conversation, store our work in Relay: save new plans, add progress updates as we go, and keep it up to date.

2. Windsurf asks permission to use Relay. Choose Allow always, so it saves as you work. Deleting always asks you first.
3. To keep it on in new sessions, add the same sentence to a rule in .windsurf/rules or your AGENTS.md.

Using Relay in Windsurf every day

• Relay loads in every Cascade session. Check it in Cascade's MCP panel.
• Approve Relay's tools when Cascade asks, or let them run automatically in Cascade's settings.
• Make it automatic: add this line to a rule in .windsurf/rules or your AGENTS.md, and it checks Relay on its own.

  At the start of a task, check Relay for the latest plan for this project. When you finish, add a progress update to Relay.
