Connect Cursor to Relay

Give Cursor a memory it shares with your other AIs. Plans, progress and reviews saved in Cursor can be picked up by any of the 25 AI tools Relay works with, and the other way round. It takes about two minutes.

What you need
All plans, including Free
How it connects
One command or config entry (MCP)

1. Get your connection link

  1. Sign in to Relay with Google. It's free during the beta.
  2. Open Integrations, click Set up on Cursor, then Generate connection URL. Copy it straight away: it's shown only once.
  3. Below, YOUR-KEY stands for your link. The dashboard shows the same steps with your link already filled in.

2. Add Relay to Cursor

  1. Open %USERPROFILE%\.cursor\mcp.json (create it if missing) and add the server inside "mcpServers":
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "relay": {
          "url": "https://mcp.relaymemory.app/mcp/YOUR-KEY"
        }
      }
    }
  2. Or use Cursor Settings → MCP → Add new MCP server with type Streamable HTTP and the same URL.
  3. In Cursor's agent chat, relay should show a green dot under Settings → MCP.

3. Test it

Send this in Cursor. It should answer from your Relay memory:

What's waiting for me in Relay? Use the cursor platform id.

Make it save on its own

  1. In a Cursor session, send this once:
    In every conversation, store our work in Relay: save new plans, add progress updates as we go, and keep it up to date.
  2. Cursor asks permission to use Relay. Choose Allow always, so it saves as you work. Deleting always asks you first.
  3. To keep it on in new sessions, add the same sentence to a rule in .cursor/rules or your AGENTS.md.

Using Relay in Cursor every day

  • Use Cursor's chat in Agent mode; Relay's tools aren't used in Ask mode.
  • Cursor asks before running each tool. Approve Relay's tools, or allow them to run automatically in Cursor's settings.
  • Make it automatic: add this line to a rule in .cursor/rules or your AGENTS.md, and it checks Relay on its own.
    At the start of a task, check Relay for the latest plan for this project. When you finish, add a progress update to Relay.

Things to say in Cursor:

Save this plan to Relay for the project "My project".
Pick up my latest plan from Relay and continue it.
Add a progress update to Relay for this work.
Review the latest work in Relay and add your review.
Remember in Relay that I prefer short answers.
What's waiting for me in Relay?
Cursor uses Relay's cloud endpoint, so it works even when Relay isn't running on your PC. If the file already has other servers, add just the "relay" entry.
