Connect ChatGPT to Relay

Give ChatGPT a memory it shares with your other AIs. Plans, progress and reviews saved in ChatGPT can be picked up by any of the 25 AI tools Relay works with, and the other way round. It takes about two minutes.

1. Get your connection link

  1. Sign in to Relay with Google. It's free during the beta.
  2. Open Integrations, click Set up on ChatGPT, then Generate connection URL. Copy it straight away: it's shown only once.
  3. Below, YOUR-KEY stands for your link. The dashboard shows the same steps with your link already filled in.

2. Add Relay to ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT → Settings → search “connect” → Connect / Plugins → Advanced, and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Click Create (or edit your existing connector). Name: Relay (or any name you like). Authentication: None. URL:
    https://mcp.relaymemory.app/mcp/YOUR-KEY
  3. In a chat, enable the connector from the + / tools menu next to the message box.
  4. When the server gains new tools, open the connector in Settings and click Refresh.

3. Test it

Send this in ChatGPT. It should answer from your Relay memory:

Make it save on its own

  1. In a ChatGPT chat, send this once:
    In every conversation, store our work in Relay: save new plans, add progress updates as we go, and keep it up to date.
  2. ChatGPT asks permission to use Relay. Choose Confirm, and tick the option to remember it for the chat if ChatGPT offers it, so it saves as you work. Deleting always asks you first.
  3. To keep it on in new chats, add the same sentence to ChatGPT's Settings → Personalization → Custom instructions.

Using Relay in ChatGPT every day

  • Developer-mode connectors are off in every new chat. Each time: click + next to the message box → Developer mode → pick Relay (the name you gave the connector). Then ask.
  • ChatGPT asks you to confirm before Relay saves or changes anything. Check what it's about to save and click Confirm. If it offers to remember your choice for the chat, you can, so it doesn't ask every time.

Save this plan to Relay for the project "My project".
Pick up my latest plan from Relay and continue it.
Add a progress update to Relay for this work.
Review the latest work in Relay and add your review.
Remember in Relay that I prefer short answers.
What's waiting for me in Relay?
ChatGPT runs in the cloud, so it needs the public URL. ChatGPT asks you to confirm write actions such as saving.
