Connect Claude to Relay

Give Claude a memory it shares with your other AIs. Plans, progress and reviews saved in Claude can be picked up by any of the 25 AI tools Relay works with, and the other way round. It takes about two minutes.

1. Get your connection link

  1. Sign in to Relay with Google. It's free during the beta.
  2. Open Integrations, click Set up on Claude, then Generate connection URL. Copy it straight away: it's shown only once.
  3. Below, YOUR-KEY stands for your link. The dashboard shows the same steps with your link already filled in.

2. Add Relay to Claude

  1. Open claude.ai → Settings (or Customize) → Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. Name: Relay (or any name you like). Remote MCP server URL:
    https://mcp.relaymemory.app/mcp/YOUR-KEY
  3. In a chat, enable the connector from the tools menu and allow its tools when asked.

3. Test it

Send this in Claude. It should answer from your Relay memory:

Make it save on its own

  1. In a Claude chat, send this once:
    In every conversation, store our work in Relay: save new plans, add progress updates as we go, and keep it up to date.
  2. Claude asks permission to use Relay. Choose Allow always, so it saves as you work. Deleting always asks you first.
  3. To keep it on in new chats, add the same sentence to a Claude Project's instructions, or Settings → Profile → personal preferences.

Using Relay in Claude every day

  • In a new chat, open the tools menu under the message box and check that Relay is switched on. It stays on until you turn it off.
  • The first time Claude uses a Relay tool it asks permission. Choose Always allow for the reading tools; keep asking for saves if you want to check each one. You can change this per tool in Settings → Connectors → Relay.
  • Shortcuts: the + menu has Relay's pickup, board, handoff and review prompts.
  • In a Claude Project, add "Use Relay to load and save plans for this project" to the project instructions.

Things to say in Claude:

Save this plan to Relay for the project "My project".
Pick up my latest plan from Relay and continue it.
Add a progress update to Relay for this work.
Review the latest work in Relay and add your review.
Remember in Relay that I prefer short answers.
